This weekend marks end of another season on the island that seems to add to its footfall every year. DC10 will throw its final party on Monday and after 27 years, Space Ibiza will close its doors for the last time on Sunday. But for all the island dwellers that hibernate during the winter there, what’s it like off season?
Earlier this year, the newly launched imprint The Bricks headed to Ibiza to find Corbi. His release on the label ‘Cosmo’ featuring HIDE + SEEK might be his debut, but behind the scenes he’s already clocked up over 12 years in the music industry. This is his second year living on the island and we caught up with him to explore the white isle and find out where his inspirations came from. Listen to the track below [photos by Netti Hurley].
In April the island is quiet and subdued, without the hordes of people in the clubs, the buildings and beaches feel desolate.
“I like the quiet and the calm in the winter, it’s a way more productive environment as I’m easily distracted, so not being disturbed too much suits me fine.” says Corbi.
In the video Netti Hurley captures abandoned Ibiza, juxtaposing beauty with loneliness. Corbi’s production style carries a lot of nostalgia, giving the notion of old memories which are depicted through an old VHS camera. Watch the video here:
